The T-Mobile Home Run Derby arrives in Philadelphia tonight, serving as the premier curtain-raiser for the 2026 MLB All-Star Game. In a historic shift, ESPN will not broadcast the event for the first time since 1994. Below is everything you need to know regarding the schedule, viewing options, the updated competition rules, and the lineup of sluggers.
Viewing Guide
- Date: Monday, July 13
- Time: 8 p.m. ET (Pre-game coverage begins at 7 p.m. ET)
- Venue: Citizens Bank Park, Philadelphia
- Streaming: Exclusively on Netflix
Marking the first time the Home Run Derby has moved to Netflix, the event will be available to all active subscribers. Following the Derby, FOX will resume coverage the next evening for the All-Star Game.
Updated Competition Format
MLB has overhauled the contest by replacing the traditional clock with a swing-based system. In the opening round, eight hitters each receive 20 swings, with the four highest totals advancing. The semifinals will feature a seeding match-up of 1v4 and 2v3, with both the semifinals and the championship final consisting of 15 swings each. One key rule remains: a round cannot conclude on a home run; if a player hits one on their final swing, they continue until they record an out.
The Field of Participants
The full roster of competitors has been finalized:
The American League accounts for five of the eight participants, while Philadelphia fans will be treated to two hometown favorites in Bryce Harper and Kyle Schwarber.
Prize Pool
The stakes are high, with the tournament winner claiming a $1 million prize. The runner-up will receive $500,000, and all other participants earn $150,000 for their appearance. Additionally, a $100,000 bonus will be awarded to the player who hits the longest home run of the event.
