San Francisco 49ers tight end George Kittle has never shied away from voicing his opinions.
He was equally candid about which player he thinks the 49ers should pursue in a trade.
According to NBC Sports’ Matt Maiocco, 49ers general manager John Lynch revealed that Kittle approached him Thursday to discuss acquiring veteran edge rusher Khalil Mack, who has recorded three sacks for the winless Los Angeles Chargers.
Mack has ranked among the NFL’s premier edge rushers for more than ten years, having played for the Chicago Bears, the Las Vegas Raiders, and now the Chargers.
Despite a 14‑year career, he has yet to win a playoff game, and the outlook for a postseason breakthrough with Los Angeles this season appears slim.
Given the 49ers’ recent spate of defensive‑line injuries, adding Mack could stabilize the front seven and bolster San Francisco’s chances once the playoffs begin.
Securing Mack would likely require a substantial trade package from Lynch, but the potential impact of a three‑time First‑Team All‑Pro may justify the cost.
