9-1-1: Nashville paid tribute to Fiona Lowe, the 13‑year‑old daughter of executive producer and director Chad Lowe, during the season two premiere on Thursday after her death on September 29.
Following the episode titled “Going Rogue,” the broadcast went to a black screen and displayed a title card honoring Fiona Lowe, featuring the inscription “In loving memory, Fiona Lowe” and a photograph of her.
Chad Lowe and his wife, Kim Painter, released a statement to People magazine announcing their daughter’s death, describing her as their “loving young girl.”
“We are deeply heartbroken by the loss of our beloved Fiona. She was a loving young girl who was smart, creative and loved to dance. She was adored by her sisters and she was deeply loved by her parents. In fact, she was the light of our lives,” the couple said.
“Her passing is devastating for our entire family and we ask for prayers and privacy at this time. If you or someone you know is struggling with mental health, please reach out to the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline by calling or texting 988,” the statement continued.
According to the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner, Fiona’s death was ruled a suicide.
Chad Lowe is known for his roles in Life Goes On, Unfaithful and Pretty Little Liars. He and Painter also have two daughters, Mabel Painter, 17, and Nixie Barbara, 10.
The series, created by Ryan Murphy, Tim Minear and Rashad Raisani, is an ABC production starring Chris O’Donnell, Ryan Phillippe, Jessica Capshaw, Kimberly Williams‑Paisley and LeAnn Rimes. Lowe has also worked on the spinoff 9‑1‑1: Lone Star, which features his brother, Rob Lowe.
