Total Wife Drops Experimental “come.back.down.x.recovery” EP Featuring Guest Collabs
Total Wife’s latest studio work continues its evolution, blending glitched-out shoegaze with experimental electronic textures. Their highly acclaimed album come back down was a standout focal point last year, leading the duo toward a new creative phase. Consequently, they have assembled a fresh EP consisting entirely of reimagined tracks, titled come.back.down.x.recovery, which is scheduled for a fall release.
While the new collection explores sonic decay, the journey to complete it was fraught with technical adversity. Between the actual release and now, vocalist Luna Kupper recounted that her primary drive catastrophically failed, erasing much of her current project and half of the prior album. After recovering a damaged drive filled with mangled audio samples, a hidden cache revealed portions of several tracks that could be resurrected. These works were saved thanks to contributions from peers across the neo-shoegaze scene, including artists associated with Julia’s War such as They Argh A Body Of Water, plus Winter, Scott Cortez of Lovesliescrushing, and Full Body 2. In a detailed statement about the process, Luna explained that the hardware malfunction felt like a “harsh noise remix” of her storage device, leaving her unable to record well for some time. She expressed profound appreciation for rediscovering these works and encouraged others to prioritize regular backup procedures.
The EP kicks off with Full Body 2’s jittery, scrambled adaptation of “Make It Last.” Viewers can listen to the single compared against the original recording, explore the full tracklist, and view Total Wife’s upcoming tour with Fcukers.
