When asked about his squad depth, Mikel Arteta emphasized the impact of his new signings. “That is what we need,” Arteta told Sky Sports. “The players that come in make the difference. All of them contributed to create more dominance and more momentum. The level of focus and the way they want to contribute to the team, that is going to be decisive in the season.”
While Arsenal’s squad depth is undeniable, the club may still look to bolster their forward line. The Gunners have been pursuing an elite forward to elevate their attack and could remain active on the transfer deadline day. Their pursuit of Real Madrid’s Vinicius Jr. proved unsuccessful, though they have maintained a long-standing interest in Atlético Madrid’s Julián Álvarez.
“We are trying to improve the squad and until tomorrow night we will try to do it,” Arteta stated. “I have been disconnected from the world for the last 24 hours because my energy has to be on the match, but I will get back on it now.” When pressed on a potential deal for Álvarez, Arteta remained coy, saying, “I don’t know, that’s for the people upstairs.”
Regardless of any final deadline-day moves, with Arteta at the helm, Arsenal are well-positioned to remain strong contenders at the top of the table.
