Scotland international Scott McTominay, who transferred from Manchester United to Napoli, is scheduled to undergo heart surgery.

Napoli midfielder Scott McTominay is set to undergo a surgical procedure to correct an irregular heartbeat, the club announced.
Napoli said he will miss action until after the season’s first international break, returning in October.
Napoli confirmed that, after a minor, benign arrhythmia was detected, McTominay will undergo a pulsed field ablation (PFA) procedure in the coming days, according to a statement on Tuesday.
PFA is a minimally invasive technique employed to treat cardiac arrhythmias.
At 29, he was named Serie A MVP after helping Napoli secure the 2025 title, represented Scotland at this year’s World Cup, and featured among the Ballon d’Or nominees.
McTominay left the pitch in the second half of Napoli’s 2‑1 defeat to Como on Sunday.
A product of Manchester United’s youth academy, where he arrived under former manager Alex Ferguson, McTominay has earned 73 caps for Scotland and scored 15 goals.
His transfer to Napoli in 2024 followed seven seasons with Manchester United’s first team.
