Matt DiBenedetto Set for NASCAR O’Reilly Series Return at Las Vegas

Matt DiBenedetto is poised to make a return to NASCAR competition, driving the No. 42 Young’s Motorsports Chevrolet in the O’Reilly Auto Parts Series race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway on October 3. The effort will be supported by Magnesium Performance Wheels as a sponsor.

The development was first uncovered by Chris Knight of Catchfence.com, with DiBenedetto expressing enthusiasm and appreciation for the chance to compete again.

Bringing a wealth of experience, DiBenedetto has logged 248 Cup Series starts, 127 O’Reilly Series starts, and 43 Truck Series starts throughout his career.

His most recent national-level outing occurred in 2025, when he was unexpectedly displaced from his full-time role with Viking Motorsports midway through the season. Earlier this year, he sought to qualify for the Cup Series race at Darlington with Joey Gase Motorsports but was unable to secure a spot on the grid.

DiBenedetto’s career highlights include a Truck Series victory at Talladega in 2022 and a personal best fifth-place finish in the O’Reilly Series at Talladega in 2025. In the Cup Series, while he has not claimed a win, he achieved three runner-up finishes, two of which came at Las Vegas in 2020.

Las Vegas Motor Speedway has proven to be a strong venue for DiBenedetto at the top level of the sport, and his most recent O’Reilly Series appearance there was last fall, where he finished 19th.

Young’s Motorsports has fielded the No. 42 Chevrolet with a diverse lineup of drivers throughout the 2026 season, including Carson Hocevar, J.J. Yeley, Nick Leitz, Nathan Byrd, Brad Perez, David Starr, Logan Bearden, Will Rodgers, C.J. McLaughlin, Baltazar Leguizamon, Garrett Smithley, and most recently Natalie Decker.

Nathan Byrd delivered the team’s best performance of the 2026 season, securing a 16th-place finish at Rockingham.
