Two residents of Acre’s Old City in their 20s were arrested on suspicion of attacking a bereaved father whose daughter was killed at the Nova music festival on October 7, 2023, Israel Police announced on Thursday.
The assault occurred last week in the old city while the victim was out walking his dog.
During the walk, the dogs encountered each other, and a scuffle broke out between the animals.
According to the police investigation, the suspects intervened and, alleging that their dog had been deliberately attacked, proceeded to violently assault and injure the man.
Law enforcement promptly launched an investigation, successfully identifying and locating the two suspects. Their homes were raided on Thursday morning, resulting in the arrest of both individuals.
They were transported to the Acre Police Station for additional questioning and subsequently remanded into custody, according to police.
Based on the requirements and evidence uncovered during the investigation, the court approved the police’s request and extended the detention of the two suspects until September 7.
