“His first game here we won, and so we meet up in center field and it’s Myles (Straw) in left, I’m in right, Bateman’s in center and we come together and Bateman starts doing this dance,” Lukes told Blue Jays correspondent Lindsay Dunn. “And me and Myles, just the salty old guys, just look at each other laughing… Maybe he can do a dance and me and Myles can just have our little hug and then we can go back in for the high fives.”

The exchange speaks volumes about the atmosphere Bateman has helped cultivate. Rather than simply stepping into an unfamiliar clubhouse and trying to blend in, the rookie has already made an impression with his unbridled enthusiasm.
