Jane Remover Withdraws from M3F Fest Following Controversy Over Israeli Band Temper City

About a month ago, Jane Remover gave M3F Fest an ultimatum: remove the Israeli alt‑rock group Temper City from the bill or she would withdraw from next year’s event. She posted on her Instagram Stories on August 5, “yo get that idf band off the lineup or I’m not playing.” The Phoenix festival has now released an updated lineup confirming that Jane Remover will not appear.

Flying Lotus has been added to the festival poster in her stead, while M3F has not publicly explained the change. Temper City have also remained silent on the matter.

Based in Los Angeles, Temper City have released just two tracks to date; their debut single “Self Aware” went viral on TikTok earlier this year. Released through the indie label Thirty Knots in collaboration with TikTok’s SoundOn promotion platform, the song reached the top of Billboard’s Alternative Airplay chart in July.

Military service is compulsory for most Israeli citizens around age 18, and US‑born vocalist Eytan Peled has openly discussed his time in the Israel Defense Forces. In a 2022 interview with the Israeli magazine Frogi, he said his service helped sharpen his language abilities and boost his confidence, noting, “My military service really built me up and made me realize that I strongly believe in actively leaving my comfort zone,” according to a translated quote.

Before forming Temper City, Peled teamed up with bandmates Chen Kordova and Aviv Barenholtz (the production pair Sync) to work behind the scenes with acts such as Barns Courtney and Zeds Dead. The group is currently finishing their debut album and is slated to perform at Austin City Limits next month. Meanwhile, Jane Remover’s LIVE EXHIBIT North American headline tour is set to resume in Minneapolis the following week.
