Kavango Resources has appointed Jasper Musadaidzwa as its new CEO and executive director, effective immediately.
The Zimbabwean national brings more than 27 years of mining sector experience to the role.
He spent 17 years at AngloGold Ashanti, holding senior operational and executive positions across Africa.
Most recently, Musadaidzwa served as senior vice-president of AGA’s Guinea Business Unit, where he oversaw improvements that extended the mine’s life from 2026 to 2034 and doubled its net present value.
Musadaidzwa said: “Joining Kavango is an opportunity that carries particular significance for me. I began my mining career in Zimbabwe nearly three decades ago, and I am extremely excited to be returning to help build a mining company with the ambition to create lasting value in the country and across southern Africa.”
“I have spent much of my career leading mining businesses through periods of transformation, growth, and operational improvement,” he added.
“My focus has always been on turning mining potential into sustainable value by improving operations, extending mine life, and building businesses that can perform consistently over the long term.”
His previous experience at AGA included acting as senior vice-president of operations for the Africa Region, managing four mines in Ghana, Tanzania, Mali, and Guinea.
These operations collectively produced around 1.1 million ounces of gold annually, generated nearly $2 billion in revenue, and employed more than 14,000 people.
Earlier roles at AGA included managing director and general manager of the Iduapriem Gold Mine in Ghana and operations manager at the Siguiri Gold Mine in Guinea.
He also held senior technical and operational positions at the Geita Gold Mine in Tanzania.
Prior to joining AGA, he worked for Anglo American at Namibia’s Skorpion Zinc Mine and began his career in Zimbabwe.
Following Musadaidzwa’s appointment, Donald McAlister stepped down as non-executive chairman and interim CEO to become executive chairman at Kavango Resources.
Kavango is a metals exploration and gold-producing company focused on opportunities across southern Africa.
