The club is placing its faith in Trey Nyoni to take on a bigger role this campaign, and the 19‑year‑old was one of the standout performers during Liverpool’s pre‑season tour of the United States.

With the schedule becoming increasingly demanding, significant expectations will fall on Dominik Szoboszlai, Ryan Gravenberch and Alexis Mac Allister, making any injury to one of them a potentially critical problem.

According to a report by BBC Sport last week, Liverpool have scouted Monaco’s Lamine Camara but have decided against signing a midfielder during the current transfer window.

That role could become a priority in January or next summer, especially if it appears unlikely that Mac Allister will sign a contract extension before his current deal expires in 2028.

Currently, there are no negotiations underway for a new contract for the Argentine midfielder, meaning this will be another issue for Hughes’ successor to address.

The forward line, however, presents fewer worries, as Hughes oversaw the signings of Alexander Isak, Florian Wirtz, Hugo Ekitike, Victor Munoz and Bradley Barcola.

With 18‑year‑old Rio Ngumoha poised to commit to a long‑term contract, Liverpool appear to have ample depth in that area.

Liverpool ultimately chose not to part ways with Cody Gakpo, rejecting a move to Manchester City this summer. The Dutch winger has already contributed one goal and three assists this season, but should the club secure a new wide attacker and receive another substantial offer for Gakpo, the situation could be revisited.
