I have selected five players to watch closely as the Champions League kicks off this season. First up is Jude Bellingham. Como’s number 10, Nico Paz, sits at the very heart of their creative playmaking. Making their debut in the Champions League this season, Como, managed by Cesc Fabregas, promises to be an incredibly entertaining side to observe. Paz is an exceptionally talented prospect, still very much in development, but destined to become a top-tier player in the near future.

Then there is “Mr. Champions League” – Khvicha Kvaratskhelia. Over the past two seasons, he has been phenomenal for PSG, particularly last year on the left wing, where his ability to cut inside or run down the flank makes him a dual threat with both feet. Technically superb and capable of scoring spectacular goals, I believe he is a genuine contender for the Ballon d’Or. He is the kind of player who keeps you on the edge of your seat.

Lens are back in the Champions League, having pushed PSG to the limit in Ligue 1 last year, and Ismaelo Ganiou is arguably their standout performer. The 21-year-old strong center-back is excellent on the ball, incredibly quick, and highly physical. I expect him to attract major interest and transfer to a top Premier League club by the end of the season.

Since his move from Aston Villa to Roma, Donyell Malen has been outstanding, averaging nearly a goal per game as the focal point of Gian Piero Gasperini’s attack. Roma’s return to the Champions League is a fantastic development, and they are once again a highly entertaining side to watch. I expect Malen to return to his peak form and make a major impact on the European stage.

Bayern Munich forward Harry Kane is launching a serious campaign to win the Ballon d’Or. He certainly deserves to be in the conversation, and I do not anticipate any drop in his elite performance, as Bayern Munich’s tactical style is perfectly suited to his abilities.

Teenage sensation Lamine Yamal is hungry for more success and has set his sights on making a major impact in the Champions League. Under Hansi Flick, who demands a high-intensity, passionate defensive system, Yamal has the perfect platform to showcase his talents and shine on the biggest stage.

Khvicha Kvaratskhelia is ready to reach another level of greatness. As PSG goes deep into the tournament, he is poised to once again rescue the team in crucial moments and deliver in high-stakes games. He is destined to become a Ballon d’Or winner in the very near future.

Shakhtar Donetsk has a storied history of transforming Brazilian prospects into massive European transfers, and 20-year-old Kaua Elias could be the next high-profile name on that list.

After a challenging season disrupted by injuries, Martin Odegaard has started this campaign on a strong note. Capable of dominating matches, the Norwegian playmaker will be crucial as his team, now sporting greater confidence, looks to him to lead by example and take full ownership of the leadership role.
