Cagnes-sur-Mer Renoir Museum Reports Theft of Two Masterpieces, Two Recovered

A massive manhunt has been launched after thieves stole four Renoir paintings from the museum on the French Riviera, according to the local mayor. Two of the artworks were recovered at the scene.

Two intruders broke into the Renoir Museum in Cagnes-sur-Mer shortly before 6 a.m. on Tuesday, Mayor Bryan Masson announced via social media. Surveillance footage captured the suspects fleeing as officers arrived five minutes later. Masson initially reported that one painting had been left behind during the escape, but he later updated the information, confirming that two artworks had been recovered.
