Deepti Sharma and Smriti Mandhana Scale New Heights in Latest ICC Women’s Rankings

Recent updates to the ICC Women’s Player Rankings reflect impressive performances during the Women’s Asia Cup and England’s ODI series against Ireland. India’s Deepti Sharma and Smriti Mandhana experienced significant upward mobility, driven by their standout contributions in the ongoing continental tournament.

Sharma advanced to sixth place in the T20I bowling rankings after claiming eight wickets across three matches, while Mandhana maintained her fifth-place standing among batters following a brilliant century against Hong Kong. Concurrently, Ireland wicketkeeper-batter Amy Hunter achieved a career-best ranking in the ODI batting charts during her consistent series against England.

Deepti Sharma and Smriti Mandhana lead India’s ranking movement

Sharma’s eight wickets in the Women’s Asia Cup propelled her two spots higher to sixth in the ICC Women’s T20I bowling rankings. She has been instrumental for India alongside N Shree Charani, who continues to top the bowling charts with seven wickets in three matches. Sharma recently etched her name into history as the leading wicket-taker in Women’s T20I cricket, overtaking Thailand’s Thipatcha Putthawong after delivering outstanding figures of 3/0 against Thailand. Putthawong also ascended the rankings, moving up four places to 47th after claiming five wickets during the tournament.

Mandhana remains India’s highest-ranked batter at fifth, now trailing fourth-placed Hayley Matthews by just 12 rating points. Her spectacular 124 against Hong Kong facilitated a 137-run victory for India and saw her surpass Mithali Raj as the highest run-scorer in women’s international cricket. Shafali Verma and Harmanpreet Kaur hold the seventh and tenth positions, respectively.

Amy Hunter reaches career-best 11th in ODI batting rankings

Hunter recorded the most substantial advancement in the Women’s ODI batting rankings following a prolific three-match series against England. The Ireland wicketkeeper-batter scored 62, 64, and 39 across the series, reaching a career-best 644 rating points and ascending from 20th to 11th. England completed a 3-0 clean sweep, but Hunter emerged as one of Ireland’s most exceptional performers throughout the series. Her latest rating represents the second-highest ever achieved by an Ireland women’s batter, surpassed only by Miriam Grealey’s 654 points from August 2000.

England’s batters also saw notable gains, with Maia Bouchier climbing 13 places to 42nd and Sophia Dunkley advancing 26 spots to 43rd. Freya Kemp surged 37 places to 76th, while Charlie Dean moved up two places to joint-11th among ODI bowlers. In the T20I rankings, Bangladesh’s Sobhana Mostary, UAE captain Esha Oza, and Bangladesh bowlers Marufa Akter and Sultana Khatun were among the other prominent movers following their performances in the Women’s Asia Cup.
