Netflix Hails WWE Partnership as Streaming Metrics Exceed Expectations

During an appearance on Sports Media with Richard Deitsch, Netflix executive Gabe Spitzer addressed the streaming platform’s expansion into sports such as NFL and women’s soccer when asked about its partnership with WWE.

Spitzer said that, in the United States, results have matched Netflix’s expectations, and the company is “thrilled” with the outcome:

“I’ve been a fan for a long time,” Spitzer said, crediting WWE executives Paul Levesque, Lee Fitting, and Nick Khan as great partners. “We’re thrilled with the results so far. In the US, Raw airs weekly, drawing the passionate, loyal fan base we expected—audiences have transitioned to Netflix in predictable ways, hitting every metric we hoped for.”

“The real surprise has been internationally. Outside the US, we’re the home for all WWE content—Raw, SmackDown, NXT, and monthly Premium Live Events like WrestleMania, Royal Rumble, and SummerSlam—and that’s where we see the most growth potential.”

The ten-year partnership launched in January 2025, bringing WWE Raw to Netflix in the United States while offering international audiences premium live events, SmackDown, and NXT.

Spitzer added that the two companies are collaborating to drive viewership in key Netflix markets:

“It’s been cool to see as different countries have come online,” Spitzer noted. “Italy launched this year with a big PLE, the Clash in Italy, shortly after joining. WWE is working with us, asking, ‘Where are the countries you want to grow, and how can we boost viewership?’ They’re returning to Australia this year, have visited Europe repeatedly, and are heading to Mexico on September 14 for a major Raw—we’re really excited about it.”

Regarding censorship—a topic generating significant online debate recently—Spitzer said the issue rarely arises with WWE content, noting that while all parties adhere to rating standards, Netflix maintains a more relaxed approach.
