Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi spoke on Thursday with Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan and Pakistan Army Chief General Asim Munir about regional developments.
According to Araghchi’s Telegram account, the discussions took place in separate phone calls.
The officials focused on escalating regional tensions and the need for coordinated efforts to ease them, strengthen regional security, and establish lasting peace.
The United States and Israel began military operations against Iran on February 28. Tehran responded by launching missiles at Israel and striking U.S. targets and bases in several regional countries. Iran also declared the Strait of Hormuz closed to shipping, causing major disruption to global energy supplies and trade.
On June 18, Washington and Tehran signed a memorandum of understanding to end the military operations. The arrangement included guarantees for commercial shipping through the Strait of Hormuz and the launch of negotiations aimed at securing a final agreement within 60 days.
The understanding later stalled, and hostilities resumed in July as the United States renewed strikes on targets inside Iran and reimposed a naval blockade of Iranian ports.
