CBS is gearing up for the return of its hit action drama Tracker, with Season 4 set to premiere on October 4, 2026 at 9 p.m. ET/PT. The new season brings a significant cast upgrade: Cassady McClincy Zhang has been promoted to series regular, Deadline confirms.
Zhang, known for her role on The Walking Dead, previously recurred as Mel, assistant to attorney Reenie Greene (Fiona Rene). Her promotion restores the core ensemble to four series regulars alongside Justin Hartley (Colter Shaw), Rene, and Chris Lee. Lee was similarly elevated from recurring status ahead of Season 3.
Inspired by Jeffery Deaver‘s bestseller The Never Game, Tracker debuted in February 2024 to strong reviews and an 89% Rotten Tomatoes score, launching out of Super Bowl LVIII. The series follows Colter Shaw, a lone-wolf survivalist who uses his tracking instincts to locate missing persons for reward money.
The cast has undergone notable contraction since the premiere. Season 1 featured five regulars, including Robin Weigert, Abby McEnany, and Eric Graise. Weigert departed after the first season; McEnany and Graise exited ahead of Season 3, leaving Hartley and Rene as the only remaining originals until Lee and now Zhang joined the main credits.
Hartley has teased that Mel’s expanded presence may signal an ulterior motive, given her growing interest in Colter’s cases while working for Reenie, who handles his legal affairs. Showrunner Elwood Reid returns for the new season, which will stream next-day on Paramount+.
