Yes, maintaining human control over machines is essential. However, I am also well-acquainted with election-year political maneuvers and hoaxes, having witnessed many over the years. Now, Democrats, led by Senator Bernie Sanders, are calling for the government to completely halt the AI industry—including agents, data centers, and everything in between. This rhetoric carries the same existential hysteria that Democrats displayed during the Biden years regarding climate change. Do we remember that era?

Sacks asserts, “Most of all, stop pretending the motivation to slow down is purely altruistic. You face massive product-liability exposure if your products enable a truly damaging cyberattack… So go ahead and pace the frontier. You are the ones setting it.” He explains that the easiest way not to build superintelligence is for companies to agree not to build it. However, demanding a preferred regulatory framework as the price of that agreement looks like blackmail of the public and the political system. “So just do it,” he concludes.
Sacks concludes by saying, “If you do, you’ll buy goodwill for the next conversation. If you don’t, we’ll know this was just another bid for regulatory capture — or an election-season psy-op.” That “psy-op” aspect is crucial. Anthropic and other tech firms are left-leaning, and when they advocate for “world government,” it should raise serious alarms. America’s adversaries—including China, Russia, North Korea, and Iran—will never abide by such globalist frameworks.

Ultimately, while traditional Luddites are problematic, left-wing election-year Luddites are far more dangerous. The public should simply ignore their alarmism.
