Carrick Insists He Is Unfazed by Pressure, but Can United Survive?

“It’s unfortunate that Shea’s moment, which should have been a triumph for him, his family, his friends, and the entire academy, gets overshadowed,” Carrick remarked.

“That will fade for him once things stabilize, but right now, it feels like it happened a lifetime ago.”

Carrick also spoke about the JJ Gabriel situation.

“He’s a 15-year-old boy, and from both a personal and club perspective, protecting our younger players—their welfare, wellbeing, and exposure—is paramount in this situation,” he explained.

Ultimately, for any manager, performance is judged by results.

“Being in this role builds resilience over time,” he said. “It depends on how you handle it. You must cope and bring out the best in yourself, using your motivation and the deep confidence that you can win football matches.”

“We’re out of the cup tonight, and the atmosphere feels heavier than that. I’m honest enough to admit that’s the reality. But it doesn’t have to stay this way. If we win matches again, the trajectory can change.”

Manchester United have one more game before the international break, hosting Fulham on Sunday.

For the sake of the club’s wellbeing, Carrick’s team desperately needs a victory.
