Change has created another opportunity for Ryan Miller.
Steve Clarke’s reign has ended, with Sebastien Pocognoli now responsible for responding to the Tartan Army’s call for a new direction.
There is a fresh look to the Belgian’s squad for the upcoming Nations League double-header, with Miller back in the fold.
The 20-year-old, now in his second season with Udinese, is finding greater consistency following the major move to Italy.
Miller has appeared in all five of I Bianconeri’s Serie A matches so far, starting in each of his two most recent appearances.
He has also played a significant role in Udinese’s two Coppa Italia victories, completing the full 90 minutes against Venezia earlier this month.
Adapting to life in Italy has presented a significant learning curve for a player who made his Motherwell first-team debut just six days after turning 16.
His father believes Miller continues to progress and is now focused on making an impression under Scotland’s new head coach.
“It is great to see him back in the squad, and the manager had a positive Facetime conversation with him the day before the team was announced,” he said.
“The first season in Italy was obviously about finding his feet and settling in. This season, he has already had more minutes, which has been really good.
“He is developing every day over there. It is a completely different system, environment and lifestyle, and everything about the move has been excellent.
“He simply needs to continue doing what he is doing at Udinese and hopefully continue his place in the Scotland squad.”
