Arsenal could pursue a January loan for Atletico Madrid forward Julian Alvarez, according to Standard Sport.

The Gunners were keen to secure a high‑profile striker during the summer transfer window, with Alvarez featuring prominently on their shortlist.

Arsenal entered into discussions with the player, and manager Mikel Arteta personally reached out to the Argentine regarding a potential transfer.

Alvarez insisted he would only depart Atletico for Barcelona, ultimately choosing to remain with Diego Simeone’s side.

Since then, the 26‑year‑old has seen limited action, making just three substitute appearances in Ligue 1 and a solitary start in the Champions League.

If his playing time does not improve by January, an exit could become feasible. Arsenal are being linked with an initial loan arrangement that includes an option to buy at season’s end.
