Manchester United are reported to be pursuing the acquisition of River Plate goalkeeper Santiago Beltran ahead of the new season.
Manchester United brought Karl Darlow on as Senne Lammens’ deputy over the summer, yet senior management remains unconvinced. At nearly 36 years old, Darlow is viewed as a potential three‑year starter rather than a long‑term staple. Consequently, the club is eager to secure a younger backup. Beltran has emerged as the prime candidate following an exceptional form spell with River Plate in the Argentine top flight. Both Inter Milan and Manchester United have already expressed interest and could leverage Beltran’s contract timing to close the deal.
The teenager’s contract expires in December 2027, leaving his departure open unless he chooses to extend or leaves voluntarily.
River remained hopeful about renegotiating fresh terms with the Argentine international, but a final commitment has not yet been secured.
Although Beltran previously attracted attention at Aston Villa, the Blades are unlikely to re‑sign after acquiring Zion Suzuki from Parma.
