Claim: “We have more munitions than we could ever possibly even think of using, and we’re building them at levels that we have never done before.”
Trump rejected claims that US weapons inventories are declining, labeling critics as “cowards and traitors”. He reiterated that the United States possesses more munitions than it could ever envision using and is manufacturing them at unprecedented rates, a statement that is misleading.
Recent analyses indicate substantial strain on US weapons inventories amid the ongoing Iran conflict. A May report from the Center for Strategic and International Studies warned that restocking key munitions such as Tomahawk missiles, Patriot missiles, and THAAD interceptors may require several years.
In July, NBC News reported, citing senior US officials, that American forces were deliberately permitting certain Iranian attacks to pass their defenses to conserve dwindling interceptor stocks.
Last month, a US defense and NATO official told the Associated Press that US military stocks in Europe were facing a severe shortfall, largely driven by the war in Iran.
Claim: “When you add the United States and Venezuela together, we have more than 60 percent of the oil in the world.”
Trump asserted that the combined US‑Venezuela oil share exceeds 60% of the world’s total, a claim that is inaccurate. According to proven reserves, the two countries together hold about 21.9% of global oil reserves, while current production accounts for roughly 23.2%. These figures fall far short of the 60% figure cited by Trump, and Venezuela’s damaged infrastructure limits its ability to boost output significantly.
Based on proven reserves – oil considered recoverable under current economic and operating conditions – the US and Venezuela together account for roughly 21.9% of the global total.
Based on current production, the combined figure is around 23.2%.
Both figures are far below the 60% Trump cited. Venezuela’s damaged oil infrastructure also means that significantly increasing production would take time.
Claim: “A few weeks later, we ended the war in Gaza, saving untold thousands of lives.”
Trump claimed that he had brought the Gaza war to an end, saving countless lives, a statement that is contested by ongoing events. Although Trump helped facilitate the October ceasefire, fighting and strikes continue in Gaza, with daily reports of additional casualties. Hamas-affiliated health authorities report that more than 1,000 Palestinians have died since the ceasefire. The US‑backed peace plan and its $2.45 billion reconstruction proposal remain unclear, as implementation has stalled nearly a year after the ceasefire.
Claim: “The very same people who said we’ll all be dead in 12 years because of global warming…These are the same people that are now saying that AI is going to kill us all.”
Trump dismissed AI safety warnings as a hoax, claiming they originated from the same individuals who previously warned about climate change. In reality, concerns about AI risks extend beyond climate activists, with prominent alerts emerging from leading AI developers. Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei has urged the sector to temper the development of increasingly powerful AI systems, a call supported by OpenAI CEO Sam Altman. Researchers at Anthropic have also warned that advanced AI could present an existential threat to humanity, indicating that the most urgent cautions now come from within the industry itself.
