Brad Bird, Creator of The Incredibles, Ratatouille, and The Iron Giant, Unveils Trailer for New Animated Film

The Oscar‑winning director of beloved films such as The Iron Giant, Ratatouille, and The Incredibles is set to release his first new animated feature in nearly ten years.

Set in the fictional megacity of Metropia, an alternate 1939‑inspired future, the sci‑fi noir follows private eye Raymond Gunn as he untangles a twisted case of aliens, murder, and a celebrity named Venus Nova.

Brad Bird has nurtured this concept for decades; Ray Gunn has lived in his imagination for over 30 years. The core idea hasn’t changed. As he puts it, “It was always intended to fuse sci‑fi with classic ’40s detective fare—think The Maltese Falcon crossed with Buck Rogers.”

Sam Rockwell voices the lead role of Raymond Gunn.

Scarlett Johansson takes on the role of Venus Nova.

Tom Waits portrays Eyera, a one‑eyed alien who serves as Ray’s closest ally.

Additional voices come from Matt Berry, John Ratzenberger, Kathryn Hunter, Bobby Cannavale, Alan Tudyk, Michael Chernus, and Patton Oswalt.

Ray Gunn will debut at the London Film Festival before streaming worldwide on Netflix starting December 18.
