Thomas Frank Targets Premier League Return with London Club

Thomas Frank is actively preparing for his return to management, with the former Tottenham and Brentford boss closely monitoring several Premier League situations as he looks to secure his next role.

The 52-year-old has been out of work since departing Tottenham in February, but his reputation remains highly respected in the top flight, largely due to his outstanding tenure at Brentford, where he established the club as a stable and competitive Premier League side.

According to reports, Frank is eager to make a swift return to the Premier League and is already evaluating potential openings as the season progresses.

Crystal Palace and Fulham are among the London clubs frequently linked with the experienced manager, though neither side is currently planning an immediate managerial change.

Former Manchester United chief scout Mick Brown noted that Frank’s desire to return to active management is strong, despite keeping busy with punditry.

“Thomas Frank will be keen to return to the Premier League soon,” Brown said. “It’s difficult for a manager being out of the game, he’s been doing punditry and keeping himself busy, but there’s always that allure of getting back into the day-to-day business.”

“I’m sure he’ll be keeping a close eye on the situations at a few clubs, you mentioned Crystal Palace and Fulham as potential destinations. I don’t think either of those clubs are planning to make a change imminently, but Frank will surely be on their radar because he’s still very highly regarded.”

Crystal Palace have long admired Frank’s work and even explored the possibility of hiring him earlier in the year before ultimately appointing Pierre Sage. Sage has faced a challenging start, particularly with Palace conceding eleven goals in their opening four Premier League fixtures, although performances have shown signs of improvement in recent weeks.

Fulham represents another club where Frank could be an option. Álvaro Arbeloa has faced pressure following a winless start to the campaign, but the club’s hierarchy remains committed to him for the time being and has no plans for a change during the international break.

Frank’s reputation still works in his favour

While Frank’s brief tenure at Tottenham ended on a difficult note, it should not completely overshadow his remarkable achievements at Brentford.

He demonstrated that it is possible to build a highly competitive, tactically adaptable, and difficult-to-beat team without access to the massive financial resources of the league’s elite clubs. This proven ability is precisely why clubs like Crystal Palace and Fulham would find him highly attractive should their current managerial situations become untenable.

The key factor for Frank will be timing. Jumping into another unstable role immediately after his Tottenham experience would carry significant risk. He would ideally seek a club with patience, a clear and structured recruitment process, and realistic expectations, rather than another high-pressure environment demanding instant transformation.

For now, Frank is in a position to wait. Should Crystal Palace or Fulham opt for a managerial change later in the season, his extensive Premier League experience and proven track record will ensure he remains a top candidate in the conversation.
