Keanu Reeves was seen enthusiastically dancing to the iconic track “Love Will Tear Us Apart” during Peter Hook & The Light’s recent performance in San Francisco, having introduced the band to the stage moments earlier. Watch the moment below.
The concert unfolded on Monday, September 21 at The Warfield in San Francisco, where Peter Hook—the legendary bassist and co‑founder of Joy Division and New Order—took the stage alongside his ensemble, Peter Hook & The Light.
Reeves, a long‑time Joy Division fan, previously declared on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert that “Love Will Tear Us Apart” would be his desert‑island song.
It proved fitting that he introduced the band that night, greeting “the one, the only Peter Hook & The Light” and pledging they would deliver “the music we all love from then, today and tomorrow.”
Hook and the band then launched into a setlist spanning Joy Division and New Order classics, along with “Tender” and “What Do You Want From Me?” from Monaco, the project he formed in the mid‑1990s.
The 26‑song encore concluded with Hook performing “Love Will Tear Us Apart,” while Reeves was captured dancing to the track from a private box.
Hook’s current tour coincides with his forthcoming induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame later this year, honoring his contributions to Joy Division and New Order.
The Class of 2026 also includes Phil Collins, Billy Idol, Iron Maiden, Oasis, Sade, Luther Vandross, and Wu‑Tang Clan.
In advance of the ceremony, New Order drummer Stephen Morris has commented on the possibility of reconciling with Hook, calling him an “angry person.”
Meanwhile, Reeves’s band Dogstar, formed in 1994, resurfaced in 2023 and released their new album “All In Now” earlier this year.
Since then they have toured the UK and Europe through June and July, and appeared at festivals such as Download, Pinkpop, Mad Cool, and Nos Alive. The night following the Peter Hook performance, they also played a venue located just a short walk from The Warfield in San Francisco.
