LONDON: A judge at Portsmouth Crown Court on Tuesday denied bail to Daniel Thomas, a British anti-migrant activist accused of damaging a migrant dinghy in the English Channel, and set a trial date for March 1, 2027.
Thomas, 37, known online as Danny Tommo, was charged with criminal damage after a video livestream appeared to show him slashing a dinghy occupied by migrants and an emergency responder.
The court rejected his not-guilty plea’s bail request, with the next pre-trial hearing scheduled for November 12.
Thomas, a roofer, maintains ties to far-right figure Tommy Robinson (Stephen Yaxley-Lennon).
In related developments, his group Patriot Platform recently organized protests in Portsmouth and Dover, where hundreds of demonstrators wearing black clothing and face coverings blocked migrant processing facilities.
Prime Minister Andy Burnham recently noted that Channel migrant smuggling operations are evolving tactics, citing a record 781 arrivals in a single day on Wednesday.
