Seattle Kraken goalie prospect Semyon Vyazovoi has been named KHL Goalie of the Month for September, the league announced Wednesday. This marks the second time the 2021 sixth‑round draft pick has earned the honor.
In September, Vyazovoi emerged as a key factor for Salavat Yulaev, posting a 6‑2 record and a 95% save rate. Over eight games, he stopped 240 shots, averaging 30 saves per game and concluding the month with a 1.52 goals‑against average. He recorded three shutouts—against Avangard (4‑0), Neftekhimik (2‑0) and Torpedo (3‑0)—the only KHL goaltender to achieve that feat this season.
Considered among the league’s best, Vyazovoi is now entering his third full‑time season with Salavat Yulaev. He posted a .931 save percentage in 53 games during the 2025‑26 season, finishing 27‑18‑5. His current contract expires next May, positioning him for a potential move to the NHL for the 2027‑28 campaign. Known for his strong athleticism—a hallmark of many Russian netminders—Vyazovoi possesses the experience to be an immediate contender for a roster spot in the higher league.
