Gadi Eisenkot, head of the Yesh Atid party, called on Likud leader Benjamin Netanyahu to participate in a televised debate during a party event in Ramat Gan on Sunday evening, stating that Netanyahu may select the broadcasting network and format.
“Let him join a debate on whatever channel he prefers, in whatever format he prefers,” Eisenkot said. “This is the right course for Israeli democracy.”
Eisenkot indicated plans to advance the proposal in the days ahead. “My campaign manager sent a letter to Netanyahu’s campaign manager and invited him to a debate,” he said.
“He can determine the rules and venue, and each day we will highlight it to the Israeli press,” Eisenkot added. “I understand my value.”
Eisenkot also outlined his campaign philosophy, saying, “I believe I possess the fitting modesty.”
“I founded the Yesh Atid party with six individuals a year ago. Our goal was to present an authentic Israeli narrative and introduce distinguished figures,” he said.
“I focus on the positive momentum and our efforts to defeat Netanyahu and his coalition in three weeks,” Eisenkot stated.
“We have achieved significant progress,” he noted, adding, “Our campaign is strong. While not flawless, the reality is that we are leading in every poll, ahead of Netanyahu.”
Eisenkot also mentioned that ultra-Orthodox representatives approached him regarding potential political collaboration.
“The ultra-Orthodox sent an MK to me and said: ‘Gadi, we are finished with the alliance with Netanyahu. Come and tell us what you offer us,'” he said.
Likud campaign manager Tzvika Brot responded to Eisenkot’s challenge: “Is Gadi arriving alone, or with Mansour Abbas, Tibi, and Yair Golan?”
