Hayley Williams has drawn criticism from the Department of Homeland Security following remarks she made during a recent concert.
While performing her track “Ice in My OJ” from Ego Death at a Bachelorette Party in Chula Vista, California, the singer criticized U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and expressed support for Palestine. Such declarations have become a regular part of her performances since the launch of the Hayley Williams Show in September, which includes an onstage statement condemning Christian nationalism.
A DHS spokesperson told Fox News, “America is grateful all the time for our federal law enforcement officers who keep us safe,” and suggested Williams “thank them for their service, not belittle their sacrifice.”
On Monday, Williams posted a screenshot of the DHS statement on her Instagram Stories alongside a response criticizing the department. A DHS representative did not immediately respond to Rolling Stone‘s request for comment.
