US officials report that a suspected Iranian plot to conduct a complex drone attack on a key British airbase prompted the relocation of American B-1 bombers from the facility.
Iran has denied any role in the alleged plot at RAF Fairford, which serves as a primary European staging ground for US bombers. British authorities arrested a 22-year-old London man on Tuesday on suspicion of preparing terrorist acts linked to the investigation.
A US European Command spokesperson declined to comment, stating it is inappropriate to discuss intelligence matters or specific force-protection measures.
The spokesperson emphasized that America’s bomber fleet—including B-1, B-2, and B-52 aircraft—retains the capability to deliver precision global strikes anywhere, including through launches and recoveries from the continental United States.
