CARACAS: Venezuela’s Cardon refinery, located in the northwest of the country, has been temporarily shut down due to a significant fire at one of its processing units, according to three sources familiar with the situation who spoke on Tuesday.
One source confirmed the blaze is now under control, while two others reported that all personnel have been successfully evacuated from the affected area. Additional witnesses observed visible flames and smoke emanating from the facility.
State oil company PDVSA has not yet provided an official statement regarding the incident.
