Bengal Reveal Ranji Trophy Squad: Easwaran Captain, Shami and Akash Deep in Mix

Bengal will kick off their Ranji Trophy 2026-27 campaign against Delhi with a robust squad blending seasoned campaigners and emerging talent, as Abhimanyu Easwaran takes the helm for the opening match.

Scheduled for October 11 at Kalyani, the fixture marks Bengal’s bid for a strong start in the Elite Group. Easwaran will anchor the batting lineup, with Sudip Kumar Gharami serving as vice-captain.

The bowling attack benefits from significant experience, featuring India pacers Mohammed Shami and Akash Deep for the season opener. Mukesh Kumar provides additional pace, while Suraj Sindhu Jaiswal and Pradipta Pramanik offer further depth.

Wicketkeeper-batter Abishek Porel joins the squad alongside Shakir Habib Gandhi, providing Bengal with multiple options behind the stumps.

The roster also includes Sumit Mohanta, while Aditya Purohit and Rahul Prasad bolster the team’s depth. Bengal have named a substantial standby group, including Karan Lal and Akhilesh Yadav.

The inclusion of Shami and Akash Deep presents a significant boost for Bengal’s red-ball campaign. Both pacers bring international pedigree and could prove crucial with the new ball.

Delhi, meanwhile, will be captained by Ayush Badoni, with Yash Dhull as vice-captain. Their squad features experienced pacers Navdeep Saini and Simarjeet Singh.

As two competitive sides prepare to clash in Kalyani, Bengal will hope their combination of experience and youth secures a winning start to the new Ranji Trophy season.
