Chrysler is recalling over 265,000 Ram cargo vans due to a steering‑system defect, federal regulators announced.
The recall affects approximately 265,512 Ram ProMaster vans from the 2022 through 2026 model years, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
It covers 44,391 Ram 1500 ProMasters, 147,204 Ram 2500 ProMasters, 72,043 Ram 3500 ProMasters, and 1,874 Ram 3500 EV ProMasters, all within the 2022‑2026 model years (with the EV variant limited to 2024‑2026).

The defect allows water to infiltrate the electric power‑steering wiring harness, which can damage the wiring and deprive drivers of power‑steering assistance.
Drivers may receive no advance warning of the loss of power‑steering assistance, the NHTSA noted.

The NHTSA warned that such steering‑system damage could raise the likelihood of a crash.
Stellantis NV, the manufacturer of the vans, said it is aware of one non‑injury incident tied to the issue, according to spokesperson Frank Matyok in a statement to The Detroit News.

To address the problem, dealers will inspect and, if necessary, replace the wiring harness and electronic power‑steering gear at no cost to owners.
Owners will receive interim notification letters about the safety risk beginning November 17, with further correspondence to follow once the final repair solution is ready.
