Chaos on the Loose: Exclusive First Look at Archie #3 Features Vegas’ Riverdale-wide Escape

Archie Andrews has spent decades stumbling into trouble, and he rarely walks that path alone. One misstep or questionable choice is usually enough to pull Betty, Veronica, and Jughead into the fallout alongside him. The enduring charm of Riverdale has always rested on the comedic potential of an ordinary day gone awry, particularly whenever Archie is at the center of it. Sometimes, all it takes to ignite the mayhem is simply an attempt to give the dog a bath.

Oni Press’ new Archie series invites these familiar faces back to town for another round of mischief, with Ben H. Winters penning the adventures. Having previously collaborated with Fábio Moon, the project continues to pair Winters with a rotating cast of artistic talent to offer fresh takes on a beloved community. For the third issue, Nick Cagnetti—known for his work on Pink Lemonade and Spirit of the Shadows—joins Winters for a story driven by a member of Archie’s household who has no intention of following directions.

Collider can exclusively reveal the first look inside Archie #3, which hits comic shops on November 25, 2026. The issue tracks Vegas, Archie’s dog, as he breaks free from his Saturday bath and heads across Riverdale, forcing his owner to scramble in pursuit. Betty, Moose, Reggie, Jughead, and Veronica all get swept into the chase, though piling more people onto the mission doesn’t guarantee anyone has the situation under control. Vegas’s escape provides the creative team a natural excuse to explore beyond Archie’s front door. His path leads through streets, alleyways, a laundromat, and even Riverdale’s most upscale restaurant, putting the runaway pup on a collision course with locals going about their routines. What starts as a simple bath becomes a town-wide expedition for the hound. Everyone standing between Vegas and his next destination is in for a challenge. Furthermore, the premise allows for subplots to unfold alongside the pursuit, as Vegas’s journey intersects with the daily lives of Riverdale’s residents. While Archie and his friends hunt a slippery suspect, the people they encounter face their own surprises and successes. Following the dog enables Winters and Cagnetti to weave these moments together across a single afternoon of mayhem, placing the town itself at the heart of the adventure with Vegas acting as an enthusiastic tour guide.
