Prime Video Acquires UK Rights to Princess Diana Documentary Featuring Never‑Before‑Heard Recordings

EXCLUSIVE: Prime Video will stream the highly anticipated Princess Diana documentary featuring previously unheard audio in the United Kingdom.

The platform has secured UK and Ireland rights to the series, which will debut under the title Diana: Her Secret Confessions. Originally known as Diana Unheard, the three‑part documentary is being marketed internationally under that name, with Cineflix Rights handling distribution.

Ahead of its launch, the series has generated buzz after producers obtained hours of recordings Princess Diana made with confidant James Colthurst in 1991. These secretly taped conversations supplied material for Andrew Morton’s groundbreaking 1992 book, Diana: Her True Story, which sent shockwaves through the monarchy and British society.

Although snippets surfaced previously—in a 2017 National Geographic documentary—Love Monday TV, the series’ producer, collaborated with Colthurst, Morton and Michael O’Mara, publisher of Diana: Her True Story, to obtain the full archive, amounting to roughly five hours of audio.

Audiences will hear Diana discuss her marriage to the current King Charles III, his consort Queen Camilla, and her reflections on Prince Andrew—formerly Andrew Mountbatten‑Windsor—as well as her children and wider family.

Commenting on the project, Kerene Barefield of Love Monday TV told Deadline that the female‑led production team aimed to reshape Diana’s story, nearly thirty years after her passing.

Following the Prime Video agreement, Barefield added: “Diana, Princess of Wales is frequently depicted as a victim of circumstance, and even today her narrative is shaped and debated by influential men. By focusing on the private recordings she made, Diana: Her Secret Confessions reclaims her voice and tells her story in her own words.”

“With unprecedented access to the full set of tapes—as well as interviews with people who knew her—viewers will hear Diana’s voice like never before. The series portrays her not as a passive figure swept by events, but as a determined woman willing to risk everything to steer her own narrative.”
