Hong Kong’s newly operational Huanggang Port welcomed 79,500 passenger trips and 8,000 vehicle movements on its inaugural day, as transport authorities anticipate increased activity ahead of the upcoming holiday weekend.
Data from the Shenzhen General Station of Exit and Entry Frontier Inspection indicated that 41,300 passenger entries and 38,200 departures were processed through the reconstructed checkpoint on Monday, with the statistics reflecting total movement counts rather than individual traveller numbers.
“The immigration clearance process and public transport connections operated smoothly, meeting our expectations,” Transport Secretary Mable Chan stated during a Tuesday radio interview.
Anticipating heightened passenger and vehicle volumes during the upcoming Chung Yeung holiday weekend, operators are mobilizing additional staff and services, Chan confirmed.
