A 32‑year‑old Palestinian man, alleged to have taken part in previous terrorist attacks against Israeli targets, was arrested on Monday after being caught filming inside the underground Aharonovich light‑rail station in Bnei Brak, Israel Police said in a statement on Tuesday.
Police reported that station security guards observed a suspicious individual photographing and recording video in the underground section of the station early Monday morning.
Officers from the Tel Aviv District Police’s light‑rail unit responded to the station and began questioning the suspect.
During the initial interview, the man presented an Israeli identity number and claimed to be a resident of the Israeli Arab town of Tayibe.
However, a more thorough investigation revealed that the suspect was actually a 32‑year‑old West Bank resident who was in Israel illegally and had provided false identification.
He was arrested and taken to the Bnei Brak police station for further questioning.
The suspect is scheduled to appear before the Tel Aviv Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday for a hearing on the extension of his detention.
