The Los Angeles Rams suffered a heartbreaking overtime defeat, but the aftermath of the game brought a far more concerning issue to light. Starting left tackle Alaric Jackson found himself at the center of an ugly postgame altercation on the field at SoFi Stadium.
Immediately after the Buffalo Bills secured a dramatic 37-34 victory, cameras captured Jackson throwing a right-handed punch at Bills linebacker Bradley Chubb near midfield.
The confrontation erupted following a wild finish to the game, where Buffalo overcame a blocked potential game-winning field goal to march downfield for a game-winning kick of their own.
As Buffalo players celebrated their comeback victory, Chubb and Jackson exchanged words. After Chubb appeared to place a hand on Jackson’s face, the Rams lineman retaliated with a quick right hand.
The physical confrontation did not end with that single punch.
Exclusive video obtained by The California Post showed Chubb confronting Jackson a second time as the offensive tackle walked off the field toward the Rams’ locker room. Fortunately, Rams defensive end Myles Garrett intervened, stepping between the two players to prevent further violence.
Chubb commented on the incident afterward, explaining his reaction: “They always catch the second guy, so I let him swing and my teammates held me back and I just chilled.”
For Jackson, the timing of this physical confrontation could not be more sensitive. The 27-year-old was arrested in June on suspicion of felony domestic violence, though his case was ultimately referred to a pre-filing diversion program with no criminal charges filed. He also previously served a two-game NFL suspension in 2024 for violating the league’s personal conduct policy.
With San Francisco 49ers linebacker Dre Greenlaw suspended earlier that same Monday for a headbutt incident, Jackson’s latest actions are almost certain to invite additional scrutiny from league officials.
The NFL will now determine whether formal discipline is warranted based on the video evidence and the player’s prior history. The Rams, already reeling from the overtime loss, will desperately hope they do not lose their starting left tackle in the process.
