Laycock finished with career‑best figures of 6 for 26, which included another South African T20 record of four wickets in four consecutive deliveries. In T20Is, the sequence has previously been achieved by Lasith Malinga, Rashid Khan, Curtis Campher and Jason Holder among Full Member teams.
Laycock also registered the best bowling figures in the history of the CSA Pro20 Cup, surpassing Beuran Hendricks’ 6 for 29 in 2014.
The 19th over of the Titans’ innings produced the remarkable record. Laycock first dismissed Leus du Plooy, before removing Dayyaan Galiem, Aphiwe Mnyanda, Janco Smit and Esosa Aihevba with the next four deliveries. The five wickets brought the Titans’ innings to an end on 204 runs after they were 193 for four.
Laycock had earlier provided KZN Inland with their first breakthrough, dismissing Lhuan‑dre Pretorius for 81 off 36 balls in the ninth over after the Titans had added 112 runs for the opening stand.
Despite Laycock’s record‑breaking performance, KZN Inland lost the match by 21 runs. Chasing 205, they finished on 183 for six, with Laycock contributing an unbeaten 31. The victory extended the Titans’ unbeaten run in the competition to six matches at the top of the table.
Al‑Amin achieved a similar feat for UCB‑BCB XI against Abahani Limited in the 2013‑14 Victory Day T20 Cup. Mithun followed suit in the semi‑final of the 2019‑20 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (India’s domestic T20 competition), representing Karnataka against Haryana.
