On Tuesday, a Miami jury found Tyreek Hill responsible for two battery charges while clearing him of the eight other allegations brought by his estranged wife, Lakeeta Vaccaro, concluding the high‑profile civil case against the NFL wide receiver.
Hill, who has played for both the Kansas City Chiefs and the Miami Dolphins, was held liable for two battery incidents—one in January 2024 and another in April 2025. The jury granted Vaccaro $500,000 in compensatory damages and denied any punitive award.
The 32‑year‑old player was acquitted on eight additional counts, which covered battery, assault and allegations of ongoing domestic violence.
During the trial, Vaccaro, 30, testified that Hill had pulled her hair and remarked that she was treated “just like a man.” She presented a photograph of markings on her chest, asserting they resulted from an argument with Hill. Hill testified last week, largely dismissing the claims as false, though he admitted that in one episode he shoved her and caused a hole in the wall.
After the verdict, Hill hugged one of his lawyers, shook hands with the rest of his legal team, and exited the courtroom alone.
Vaccaro’s attorney, Paul Schwiep, urged the jury to “restore her dignity” and had pursued an $8 million damages award against Hill.
Schwiep commented, “Money doesn’t erase the harm, but that’s how our civil justice system operates.”
Christi Bright remarked that Hill felt grateful after the trial.
Bright told reporters, “Mr. Hill was pleased to finally share his side of the story and let the world know what he had previously been unable to discuss. He’s very grateful.”
Hill continues to recover from a dislocated knee and torn ligaments sustained in September 2025 while playing for the Dolphins, though his agent, Drew Rosenhaus, says the player aims to return to the NFL.
