[CD Projekt Red Unveils Mysterious “Project Hadar” Initiative]
The development team behind the iconic Witcher series has released an update regarding its enigmatic new intellectual property, “Project Hadar”.
CD Projekt Red has completed work on the ambitious The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt remaster and expects to roll out the sequel Songs of the Past next year.
The studio confirms it is spearheading a new Witcher game that will cast Ciri as the lead protagonist. Additional plans include a Cyberpunk 2077 sequel slated for 2023 and further Witcher remastering initiatives.
This week, CD Projekt Red CEO Michał Nowakowski presented an overview of his newly announced franchise, “Project Hadar”. The venture is being built from the ground up at the studio, initially revealed in 2022. He noted, “The project sits in the earliest stages of creative development; while no playable version exists, the team is focused purely on establishing the world’s foundation and its core elements.”
In a recent interview with Polish outlet Biznes Pap (via Polygon), Nowakowski explained: “This marks our most ambitious undertaking to date, spanning multiple years and delivering a cohesive vision for the new world and its central features. Work begins on prototypes, though a concrete release window has not yet been set.”
Earlier this year the studio sought an Engineer Director to drive the evolution of the Hadar universe toward an emotionally charged, expansive open‑world experience that resonates long after launch.
The Witcher 4 is scheduled for a 2028 launch, and developers have indicated that the subsequent two titles in the extended trilogy will follow closely. They articulated an aim to premiere the full trilogy within a six‑year span, allowing shorter development intervals between entries.
