The Bills-Rams showdown on Monday night delivered an instant classic, though the combined audience across Disney’s networks fell just short of the 20-million mark.
According to ESPN, the Week 5 finale—simulcast on ABC, ESPN, ESPN2, ESPN Deportes, and NFL Network—drew 19.8 million viewers.
It ranks as the second-most-watched Week 5 Monday night broadcast since ESPN took over the package in 2026. The Chiefs-Jaguars matchup from last year still holds the Week 5 viewership record.
ESPN further reported that alternative feeds on ESPN2 (the ManningCast) and NFL Network (a NextGen Stats production) collectively reached 1.1 million viewers, though individual network breakdowns were not provided.
This strategy may foreshadow ESPN’s upcoming Pat McAfee alternate broadcasts on ESPN2. Combining ESPN2 and NFL Network audiences, however, would make a direct comparison between the ManningCast and McAfeeFest difficult.
Ultimately, no Week 5 primetime game exceeded 20 million viewers. Bills-Rams was arguably the strongest contender, buoyed by Super Bowl-preview appeal and the presence of the league’s last two MVPs: Bills quarterback Josh Allen and Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford.
