China’s embassy in Thailand has issued a formal warning advising its citizens to exercise extreme caution during travel and prioritize transport security following several high-profile kidnappings targeting Chinese nationals.
The advisory, released on Friday, also cautioned online influencers and artists to remain alert to sophisticated, high-paying job scams currently targeting individuals within Thailand.
Recent months have seen a series of alarming incidents where travelers and digital celebrities were abducted in Thailand and subsequently trafficked to scam syndicates in Myanmar.

The embassy in Bangkok strongly urged travelers to “pay attention to transport arranged by others” and to “plan their itinerary and choose licensed transport and legal operators,” while specifically warning citizens to “be careful not to take any free rides from acquaintances or strangers.”
According to the notice posted on the embassy’s official website, individuals should decline any sudden changes to scheduled venues or travel routes and ensure they regularly update family members regarding their location.
