Iran’s exports to Pakistan have been temporarily suspended following banking sanctions, while imports from Pakistan remain active, according to Iranian media reports.
Peyman Sanandaji, head of the Transportation Commission at the Tehran Chamber of Commerce, stated that the Pakistan‑Iran border remains open after denying rumors of a crossing closure.
He added that Pakistani importers must now submit electronic import forms through Pakistan’s banking platform when purchasing goods from Iran.
Sanandaji pointed out that the sanctions on Iran’s banking system have created substantial hurdles, complicating affairs for both Iranian exporters and Pakistani importers.
Despite these obstacles, he confirmed that imports from Pakistan to Iran continue unabated.
He cautioned that should the banking restrictions endure, Iranian exports to Pakistan will effectively stay blocked.
Iran’s banking sector operates under strict U.S. sanctions that limit transactions with state‑run financial institutions and may expose foreign banks involved with sanctioned parties to additional U.S. penalties.
