On behalf of the United States of America, I extend my sincere congratulations to the people of Niue as they mark the 52nd anniversary of self-governance.
This year represents a significant milestone in the partnership between the United States and Niue, marked by the appointment of the first-ever U.S. Ambassador to Niue. This historic development builds upon the diplomatic relationship established in 2023 and reaffirms America’s commitment to deepening ties with the people of Niue.
We highly value our collaboration in advancing regional unity and security through the Pacific Islands Forum, where the Deputy Secretary recently announced U.S. support to address the ongoing global energy crisis and combat illegal, unreported, and unregulated fishing in the region.
I look forward to expanding our cooperation in the years ahead and extend my best wishes to all Niueans on Constitution Day.
