The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) opened with subdued momentum on Monday, as selling pressure across key sectors weighed on the benchmark index, though it later recovered to trade marginally higher.
The benchmark KSE-100 index stood at 166,453.27 points, up 33.56 points or 0.02% from the previous close of 166,419.71 points.
Selling pressure was evident in key sectors such as automobile assemblers, cement, commercial banks, oil and gas exploration firms, and oil marketing companies, limiting the market’s ability to sustain upward momentum.
The index fluctuated between an intraday high of 166,698.46 points and a low of 165,918.34 points, reflecting a volatile session as investors assessed buying opportunities amid persistent selling pressure.
Trading volume reached 68.99 million shares, with the traded value rising to Rs4.66 billion, according to market highlights.
Even after recovering from its intraday low, the benchmark remained near the previous session’s closing level, underscoring cautious investor sentiment as selling in major sectors offset gains elsewhere.
