A woman died Tuesday after a shark attacked her while swimming near KuGompo City in South Africa’s Eastern Cape province, according to public broadcaster SABC.
The Buffalo City Municipality, centered around KuGompo City, confirmed the incident in a social media post, describing it as a “tragic incident” at Orient Beach.
In response, the municipality has closed Orient Beach and nearby Eastern Beach until further notice.
