During a recent press Q&A in the Oval Office, FOX Business White House reporter Edward Lawrence asked President Donald Trump whether the successful Trump Accounts for children could eventually be expanded to include adult Americans.
The Social Security Administration (SSA) has begun including instructions for claiming a $1,000 government investment contribution directly on Social Security cards issued to newborns. This move expands a nationwide effort to inform American families about President Donald Trump’s children’s investment accounts.
These new inserts, distributed through the agency’s Enumeration at Birth program, explain how parents can sign up for Trump Accounts and claim a one-time $1,000 contribution from the U.S. Treasury Department. The benefit is available for eligible children born between January 1, 2025, and December 31, 2028.
With more than 3.5 million children born in the United States annually, the SSA assigns approximately 99% of infant Social Security numbers through its Enumeration at Birth program, according to SSA press officer Barton Mackey.
The initiative has celebrated the automatic enrollment of tens of millions of Trump Accounts for children, aiming to build early savings for the next generation.

The SSA confirmed that parents receiving newborn Social Security cards through the Enumeration at Birth program will also receive the Trump Account inserts. This places key information about the investment initiative directly into the hands of families during one of their first interactions with the federal government after a child’s birth.
The government-issued insert congratulates parents on their newborn and explains that eligible children may receive a $1,000 contribution to a Trump Account from the Treasury Department.
According to the notice, parents are instructed to visit TrumpAccounts.gov, download the Trump Accounts mobile application, and complete the registration process.
Following registration, families will receive communication from the Treasury Department regarding the activation of the account and the receipt of the government contribution.
The initiative has received attention from public figures, including ‘The View’ co-host Sunny Hostin, who praised the administration’s focus on fertility care and child savings accounts as beneficial policies.

The account is established in the child’s name, with a parent or other custodian managing the assets until the child reaches the age of 18.
The notice indicates that families are not required to make additional contributions, though they may choose to deposit up to $5,000 annually, subject to the program’s guidelines.
The one-time $1,000 Treasury contribution is available to qualifying children born between January 1, 2025, and December 31, 2028, who are U.S. citizens with valid Social Security numbers, according to the SSA’s published guidance.
The contribution is designed to provide an initial investment for eligible children, serving as long-term capital rather than an immediate cash payment to their parents.
Corporate backing for the program highlights its broader economic impact, with major companies like Micron making significant investments in children’s future as a blueprint for America’s next generation.

Trump Accounts are tax-advantaged investment accounts for eligible children under the age of 18, designed to support long-term savings and financial growth.
The SSA’s involvement centers on helping families enroll in the program and distributing essential information through the existing newborn Social Security card process.
Through the Enumeration at Birth program, parents can request a Social Security number for their child during the birth-registration process at a hospital, birthing center, or through a licensed midwife.
This program allows participating families to obtain their child’s Social Security number without needing to separately apply at a local Social Security office.
The new inserts build on an initiative the SSA announced in July to help parents enroll newborns in Trump Accounts, which includes plans to update hospital guidance and newborn Social Security card mailings.
President Donald Trump holds up a signed proclamation in the Oval Office honoring the 90th anniversary of the Social Security Act as Social Security Commissioner Frank Bisignano looks on, Aug. 14, 2025.
By including Trump Account information with these cards, the agency is bringing the investment program directly to families through an established and trusted government process.
The Treasury Department oversees the federal contribution, while the SSA handles the Social Security number issuance process and provides related enrollment assistance.
President Trump has also suggested that the investment account concept could eventually be expanded to include groups beyond children.
When asked by FOX Business Network correspondent Edward Lawrence whether Americans could one day see Trump Accounts for adults, the president indicated that a separate approach was actively being considered.
“We are looking at something different because it really is somewhat of a different thing, having to do with adults. Yes,” Trump explained.
Trump also noted that the initiative has reached “close to 80 million recipients,” adding that the number is “going up rapidly” as corporations and wealthy individuals become involved.
Fox News Digital has reached out to the White House for further comment on the potential expansion proposal.
Parents seeking additional information about Trump Accounts, including eligibility criteria and enrollment steps, can visit TrumpAccounts.gov.
The Treasury Department did not immediately respond to a request for comment from FOX Business.
